Y
ou may have seen A&P
Heating & Cooling
around the streets of
Sacramento and the
Foothills since 1963, but don’t
know much about them. They
would like to introduce them-
selves to you at this weekend’s
Home & Landscape Expo, where
they will be located upstairs in
Building B.
A&P has been a family owned
and operated heating and cool-
ing company that has primarily
served East Sacramento, mid-
town, Arden Park and the Car-
michael communities and con-
tinues to expand into the sur-
rounding Sacramento area and
foothills.
They are one of Sacramento’s
very first Trane Comfort Special-
ists and were one of the first
dealers, in the nation, to receive
this honor many years ago. They
also have had to maintain it by
meeting and exceeding the high-
est standards of quality and
service that Trane demands.
They really do enjoy and love to
work hard each day to maintain
that title with a training motto
consisting of: “I own quality,
therefore, I won’t accept a defect,
I won’t create a defect and I
won’t pass on a defect in every-
thing I do.”

A
home elevator can allow you to
stay in a multi-story home under
almost any circumstances.
The journey of Residential Ele-
vators by Reica Construction began in 1997
when the owners were building a new home.
In order to care for their aging parents, they
needed more space than they had in the
previous home. As they began designing the
home, they ended up with a three-story
design (land is the greatest expense, so a
small lot was what worked best). After some
research, they determined they could make
do — as long as an elevator was included in
the design.
Calling all the elevator references found in
the phone book at that time (the internet
was still pretty new), they were disappointed
in the response — or lack of response they
received from inquiries made to elevator
companies. To make a long story short, they
found an elevator company that was not yet
doing business in California. They were a
major manufacturer in the Southeast but
had not expanded into California.
Between 1999 and 2002, they built their
home with an elevator from that company.
The effort was so successful and rewarding,
they were offered the opportunity to repre-
sent that company in California as a dealer.
Incorporating the business in 2003, they now
have hundreds of customers throughout
Northern California. Since then, Reica has
expanded their offerings to include stairlifts
and platform (wheelchair) lifts.
The key value has been to treat each of
their customers the way they would have
liked to have been treated initially. They are
a family run business that includes a Viet-
nam Veteran. Their pricing is fair and honest
with customers able to choose features they
want at a price to fit their budget. They do
not throw out an inflated price and negotiate
from that. Their price is based on the cost of
doing business. “We owe it to our customers
to remain profitable in order to provide on-
going service,” said owner Richard Muench.
Elevators can be included in new home
construction or in most cases, added to
existing homes. Each home is unique, so
evaluating each home on an individual basis
is important. You can see their exhibit in the
Pavilion Building at this weekend’s Home &
Landscape Expo.
